V hlavní části továrny společnosti Nikon v prefektuře Miyagi došlo v důsledku zemětřesení k přerušení výroby a podle serveru Asahi.com nebude možné provoz obnovit do 14 dní. Podle další zprávy časopisu Amateur photographer byli zaměstnanci včas evakuováni a výrobní haly nebyly výrazně poškozeny. Zde je také oficiální stanovisko Nikonu vydané k událostem v Japonsku.
